In 1995, Weah joined AC Milan and secured the Italian league title in 1996under the management of Fabio Capello. He formed part of the Milanese attack alongside Roberto Baggio and Dejan Savićević, occasionally partnering with Marco Simone, and finished the season as Milan's top scorer. He repeated Serie A success in 1999. During his tenure at the club, he also reached the Coppa Italia final in 1998 and finished as runner-up in the Supercoppa Italiana twice, in 1996and 1999. As an AC Milan player, Weah was honored with the Ballon d'Or and the Onze d'Or in 1995, becoming the first African to be named World Footballer of the Year. Additionally, he clinched the African Footballer of the Year award that same year.
