AS Bari’s 1999–2000 season in Serie A was a story of two halves. However, the second half of the season was far more difficult, and Bari eventually finished 14th with 39 points, just clear of the relegation zone. In the Coppa Italia, they were eliminated in the second round by Napoli after a narrow aggregate defeat. The season is remembered for the emergence of Antonio Cassano, a local talent from Bari Vecchia, who made 21 appearances and scored 3 goals in his debut season, including a famous winner against Inter.
