In Scala's final season at the helm, Parma secured a sixth-place finish in the league. The year began with optimism, fueled in part by the acquisition of former Ballon d'Or winner Hristo Stoičkov from Barcelona. Goalkeeper Buffon made his Serie A debut at just 17 years old on November 19, 1995, in a match against AC Milan.
